Things Families Often Ask

What makes Betty Elaine Kindergarten different from other childcare centres?
Betty Elaine Kindergarten is a proudly family-owned service with a history dating back to the late 1950s. Over the decades, we have welcomed generations of families, with past children now returning as parents, and even bringing their own children to be part of our community. Many of the children who once walked through our doors still come back to visit us now as doctors, therapists, athletes, and professionals and they all share something in common: “We never forgot this place.”Our long-standing educators, strong community ties, and genuine relationships are what truly set us apart. We are not just a childcare Centre, we are a place where childhood memories are made, confidence is built, and lifelong connections begin.
What is your teaching philosophy?
At The Betty Elaine Kindergarten, we believe children learn best through play-based, intentional teaching in a nurturing and engaging environment. We value strong relationships, individuality, and working in partnership with families.
What if my child is shy, takes time to settle, or speaks a different language?
We understand that every child adjusts at their own pace. Some children feel confident from day one, while others need a little more time and that is completely okay. Our educators take a gentle, responsive approach to support each child’s transition. We focus on building trusting relationships, offering comfort and reassurance, and creating a predictable routine so children feel safe and secure. We warmly welcome children from diverse cultural and language backgrounds. We celebrate multilingualism and work closely with families to understand key words, routines, and cultural practices that help children feel understood and connected. Our goal is to ensure every child feels a strong sense of belonging within our kindergarten community.
Do you provide a school readiness program?
Yes. Our kindergarten program focuses on school readiness, supporting children’s social skills, confidence, independence, early literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation in line with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
Do you offer Start Strong funding?
Yes. Eligible families may access NSW Start Strong funding, which helps reduce the cost of early childhood education in the year before school. We are happy to support families with information and eligibility questions.
